Hogmanay 2010

The Ladies waiting on the Auckland Ferry
Hogmanay was spent in Auckland with Cat, Divsy, Julie (The Doctor), a load of her mates, Harvs (Iain's boss and all round god guy) and two new visitors to Devonport: Alun Powell who Iain used to work with at the SRU in Edinburgh and his new wife, Tory. We got to know Alun and Tory well in Edinburgh and spent many an evening drinking vino into the small hours with them, so it was only right to continue the tradition in the southern hemisphere, helping them celebrate their Honeymoon. (Congratulations again, guys!). Julie did a fabulous job of sorting us out with a restaurant on Princes Wharf which is right in the heart of the social hub of Auckland and a perfect viewing point for the midnight fireworks. We got there with a short ferry ride which was a great way to introduce our friends to Auckland (and chop a cheeky wee G&T on the way!) DInner was braw; great food, flowing red wine, and outstanding chat.
We headed out for the fireworks at midnight, enjoyed a good ol' singsong, then made the inevitable drunken phone calls home to family who still had eleven hours to go until "their" bells.
We spent the rest of the evening in Wildfire, a club on the Wharf, dancing our way through the first few hours of 2011!

Brilliant night, by the looks of it! But then again, you always know how to have fun.

Nice to see the good doctor with you.
