CoronaVirus Lockdown Day 49 - Mon 4 May

Today was Iain's birthday, but due to the celebrations the day before, he was an absolute write off all day. The classic line that we've all muttered, "I'm just tired" was evidently not true as he spiralled into a mute, shaking wreck after he surfaced at 12.30. 42 and still partying like a 20-something. That's the man I married.

With one less child to look after in the morning, it gave me more time to potter around, tackling some of the not-so-often-done-but-need-to-do-more-often chores. Today was all the shelves in the kitchen with all the fancy glasses and tea set etc. It's been bugging me for weeks, so I'm happy to have cleaned everything and shuffled things round a little. By the time I'd gotten through that and did the usual round of laundry, it was time to make lunch. Supplies are very much running low now, but I managed to get enough things together for a quiche. When Iain appeared, William was jumping up and down with excitement, eager to give him his presents. William had planked them in his bottom drawer in his bedroom so was feeling very special to be tasked with hiding them. Iain put on a brave face, but was struggling!

The afternoon was glorious, so while Iain was on his first conference call of the day (hahahahahaha!) William and I set up shop in the garden, breaking out his new pack of watercolours for the first time. They went down a storm. I think the best part is that they're so easy to clean off the brush so William could do it himself meaning changing to whichever colour he wanted whenever he wanted. I know it's just a wee thing but having such autonomy in an activity is so good for his confidence. He's growing up so much.
Iain had another meeting at 5pm, and wasn't really feeling like eating so I made some freezer meals for William and I. Again, stocks are low so even though it was 27degrees, we had mince and totties. Pfffft! Hot!

It was a quiet evening for us all. William went to bed about 7.30 and we finally started the third season of Killing Eve. Guid.

Lorna :-)
