CoronaVirus Lockdown Day 52 - Thur 7 May

I'm just a wee bit behind on my blogs (lockdown fatigue) so trying to catch up on the past few days. In addition, my brain seems to be frazzled so trying to remember what I actually did two days ago is proving oddly tricky. Based on my phone, I know that I went for a massive run and then in the afternoon, William played at being a repair shop man by cleaning his outdoor toys in the sink.

Now that I begin to pick apart the day, I realise that after my massive run, I was so exhausted, that it was a real effort getting myself going for the rest of the day. Thursday's run was quite different from our usual routes as we went down past the Gare, meaning we had to work hard to get back up to the Boulevard and keep going. From there it was almost the usual route but in reverse. I think Iain was quite surprised that I wanted to finish with a lap of Verdun and I surprised myself by keeping on going after I hit the 6k mark. By the time we got home, my Strava confirmed that I had indeed run the furthest I've ever gone in my life: 6.45k with a time of 46:08. I am delighted that I've managed this. It only seems like a few runs ago that I was working up to 3k. Anyway, realistically, the next big target for me has to be a 10k. I'm sure I've got it in me, I just need to keep plugging away.
One of the things I have noticed with my running, however, is that because I'm carrying my phone in my hand, now for 30+mins at a time, I'm starting to get an RSI in my left wrist. My running tights don't have big enough pockets for my phone as they're so old, so I initially thought about getting an arm pouch for my phone but then I started thinking that perhaps a fitness watch might be a better idea as I could also use it for my pool training. I've asked for some recommendations via FB but Garmins are coming in €240 for a cheap model. EEEK! Might need to go with what Iain reminded us of - that he used to use electrical tape to strap his phone to his body when he was training for the Auckland marathon!

After a much needed lunchtime refuel, Iain had a meeting so William and I spent quite a bit of time pottering around downstairs and out in the garden. I had a load of washing to do (still handwashing things while we wait for the repair guy to come next week) and once I'd finished my cleaning, it was over to William who was very excited about pretending he was working in a repair shop himself, and using a toothbrush to clean his toys. It's amazing how he's really been taken with all these toy reconditioning videos that he's been watching with Iain.
