With my training buddy out of action on Monday, I have to confess that I didn't go for my scheduled run. A bit of a cop out, I know, but I'm so rubbish at it that it takes all my concentration to keep me going, never mind pushing William up steep sections, and giving him directions for crossing roads etc during the run. So I piked out. This meant that Tuesday, which was technically a walking day, became a run day. It was only right. I decided we should do Saturday's route again, and this time we completed it without stopping. My back was a bit tight, and I was digging deep on the second half of the Boulevard but I made it all the way round the 5.5k without stopping and completed it in a time of 38.51. I'm as slow as a week in the jail, but I'm still faster than I was three weeks ago when all I was doing was eating family bags of crisps on the couch.
The afternoon brought a technical issue at home. While we were stretching after our run, we heard the washing machine hit its spin cycle, and it was making a helluva racket. I was hoping something was just bouncing around in the drum but once I'd removed the clothes, there were no foreign objects to be found. However, when I moved the drum by hand, it was still making a grinding noise. I've concluded that William had left a metal key ring thing in his pocket from our walk on Sunday, I've not checked his pockets, its ended up in the machine and its slipped between the drum and the casing. All the videos I looked at online did not convince me that I'd be able to sort this myself so I then had to take on the task of finding a repair person, in France, who would do a house call, during a pandemic. It's annoying that the company we bought it from don't send engineers to the house - you need to take your appliance back to the shop - so its just too much faffing around. However, I've managed to find a guy who's based in town, he has good reviews on google, and I was able to text him, so we could converse over messages. He's hoping to come out either Monday or Tuesday so in the meantime, I'll be hand washing stuff and leaving it to drip dry in the sun. Thank god the weather's been decent!
Lorna :-)
