CoronaVirus Lockdown Day 4

I write this from the garden. We have the fire on and we're drinking gin, and rum (separately!). Life, despite what is going on around us, is good. We're had another reasonably productive day and to be honest, we can't quite believe how quickly the week has gone.

We got up late this morning - we didn't even wake until about 8.30am, did our usual round of breakfast and pottering with laundry, and YouTube videos of people fixing thing. Today William actually asked for a "fixing movie" and today's was about a vintage insecticide pump. The stuff boys watch, eh? William and I then FaceTimed Jess and Arthur and it was really cute seeing our buys chatting about what they've been doing and talking about our next play dates. After all my hard work tidying up the garden, we had a perfect place to have an outdoor lunch so Iain got the picnic table out and we set up shop for a feed.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing some football, William playing on his bike and then I led William in some maths lessons. Suggested ideas from his school involved collecting items in numbers up to 6 and using +1 or +2 to create groups of 4s, 5s, 6s. I kept things simple, first practicing writing and saying numbers 1-6, then we made wee cards and built Lego towers corresponding to the number. As an extension activity, I added colours to the numbers, mixed the cards up and put them around the room so William had to move around, *and* work out the numbers and build towers using correct numbers and colours. All in all, we worked for about 30mins and it was enough for us both. He didn’t complete all of the towers in the extension activity so we can return to it another day.

As we were eating diinner (first BBQ of the year!) we also indulged in an online cocktail party with Heather, Allan, Livi, Florence, Pat, Gia, Donnie, Eva, Georgie, Finn, Gregor, Emma, Ronnie and Sheena. It was amazing that we were all online together but to be honest, it was quite difficult to follow and William ended up totally overstimulated and overwhelmed. This thing is mad enough for us; I can only imagine how William is trying to process it.

Right better get back to my GnT.
See you tomorrow.
Lorna. :)
