Notes from the Road (2) - Selling or Shipping?

From around the middle of January, my Trade Me account was going off the hook. Given that almost all of our furniture was second hand, it seemed pointless paying a fortune to ship it to France. So, the big sell off was set in motion. Everything had the potential to be sold and if it didn't shift after a couple of weeks, it went to charity. It was actually great fun. It allowed us to really declutter our lives and think carefully as to what was a justifiable inclusion in our shipment. You name it, I sold it; clothes, shoes, brazier, biltong box, couch, lamps, ironing board, loads and loads of books, games, homewares, curtains, fairy lights and finally two cars. As we got closer to the end, I was practically giving some of the stuff away but better to cull than ship.

The movers came on the 28th March and they were ninja packers. By this point everything had been arranged into final piles of ship and sell and before we knew it, our France bound belongings were in a horse float and ready to start their journey.
