Notes from the Road (3) - Winding Up in New Plymouth

Why is that when you've got things on, you end up getting offers of other things too? This was the case when we had planned our leaving BBQ for the Saturday but ended up going to WOMAD the night before. Not only was this our first time at WOMAD but it was William's first time at a festival. I can't believe that in five years of living in New Plymouth, this was our first time at this event. It was brilliant. Such an amazing use of the space at Brooklands Park and the Bowl, and such a chilled, family friendly vibe.

My main reason for going was to see the Specials. They closed the Bowl on the Friday night and they were brilliant!

So, onto Saturday it was and time to back it up as we'd planned our leaving BBQ! It was so lovely to have so many of our great friends round to say our final goodbyes. We had a bit of a French, "red, white and blue" theme and it was fun dressing the house up and getting into the party spirit. We have no idea how we managed to keep going but it was about 2am before we all fell into bed. William, bless him, went to bed at about 8pm and slept through it all!
