We moved out of our house on Saturday, 1st April
(no jokes!) and stayed with Colin and Lynette for two nights. We knew that we
were going to need a couple of days to tie up loose ends in New Plymouth so
hadn’t booked our flights out of the Naki until the Monday. Although it was
quite stressful sorting those final things out, two days was actually enough
time. Any longer and we’d just have faffed on decisions. As a reminder to the
future me, the things we found ourselves doing over these two days were:
·
Final charity shop runs
·
Cancelling the AA membership
·
Cancelling the house insurance
·
Cancelling the car insurance
·
Transferring Nerva’s car insurance to a
different premium
·
Storing Nerva at Steph & Glenn’s house (what
a pair of legends)
·
Selling our Honda C-RV and finalizing all the
paperwork for her (we ended up giving the keys to the buyer even though the
money hadn’t cleared at the bank!)
·
Taking the Sky box back
·
Giving away heaps of booze
·
Returning the borrowed travelcot for William
·
Binning household paperwork
·
Packing properly for the flight to Auckland and
onward journey to Fiji, the USA and Europe
·
Saying our final Naki goodbyes
Colin and Lynnie were such brilliant hosts; giving us the
whole of the upstairs of their house to get organsied, feeding us (a legitimate hāngī!), giving us
the space we needed to prepare to leave and welcoming our friends into their
home to say our final goodbyes. Colin even took us out to the airport on the
Monday morning! Superstars.
