Notes from the Road (6) - Goodbye Auckland

Getting out of the 'Naki, typically, wasn't simple. The ITU triathlon had been taking place on the Sunday morning but with a blanket of fog closing the airport later that day, many of the athletes, and their bikes, got stuck. Fast forward to the Monday morning and the airport was dealing with the backlog. Our flight was late, and choca, and just before we taxied, the pilot said they needed to remove some of the hold baggage as they were over weight. We finally left and once we arrived in Auckland, it transpired that it was our luggage they'd removed. Fair dos, but ridiculously, they removed William's car seat so we were stranded at AKL until the next flight came in with the rest of our stuff. Infuriating!

Anyway, Jeff and Adine were absolute legends and put us up for a few nights whilst we caught up with people in Auckland. We had dinners out, and dinners in, and good times with our oldest Kiwi friends. There was even time for one last Blaze, albeit a tame one ;-)
