CoronaVirus Lockdown Day 21 - Mon 6 April

It was a bit of a late start to the morning as we'd all gone to bed late last night after the pub quiz. However, as soon as I woke up, I decided there was at least one thing I wanted to take control of and I deleted the Candy Crush app from my phone. Already hoping to get at least an extra hour of productivity in my day as a result of this action! The forecast for today was much colder with a chance of rain so I knew I was going to have to be much more creative with William. Fortunately I'd anticipated this and bought some more arts and crafts gear at Leclerc on Friday so had a few tricks up my sleeve.

We had our usual morning routine of Iain watching a restoration movie with William then playing some Lego while I got ready, made the beds and did all the laundry. Then, William and I got the Cosmic Kids cranked up just before lunchtime and we were quickly bouncing around the living room. We went high energy this morning and it was definitely what we both needed.

I decided it was a good day to make sweetcorn fritters for lunch. I've really tweaked and played around with this recipe over the years. Today there was a lot of thickly grated carrot in them and they really changed the consistency. I'm annoyed that I forgot to buy more sweet chilli relish at the supermarket this week. It's a perfect accompaniment along with the crème fraîche. A good batch today though and my biggest critics loved them.

After lunch William and I embarked on our project for the day. Inspired by the Home Is Where the Art Is section of the National Galleries Scotland website, we tasked ourselves with recreating the Coldwar Steve masterpiece, Harold, The Ghost of Lost Futures. I'll post the original below, but there's also a really interesting interview with the artist if you click here. The afternoon passed in no time at all as William and I found things for the collage, cut stuff out, drew and coloured in. We're nowhere near finished, but here's some photos of us working away.

I'm sure it will keep us busy for a good few days to come.

At 5pm, Iain had a conference call work meeting which went on for hours. I was well prepared for this; deciding on a home-made frozen dinner and getting William and myself sorted while Iain was down the stairs trying to pick up as much as he could from two hours of discussion in french.

We were both happy to sit on the couch at the end of the day and watch Race Across The World.

Lorna. :)
