William didn't go to bed until 10pm last night so we were hoping for a lie in. Unfortunately he woke even earlier than normal and woke up very grumpy (probably a result of him not getting anywhere enough sleep) and was just being annoying; lying in our bed kicking us, rolling around, getting out of bed and standing staring at us (?!). We tried to get him to go back to his room but he was having none of it so we were all up. Hopefully he'll be shattered tonight and will have a decent [read: long] kip tomorrow morning.
Had our usual morning routine of breakfast, the boys watching repair shop videos and doing french via duolingo while I tidied up the kitchen and made beds etc. The morning weather and forecast for the rest of the day was rubbish so Iain and I put a plan together. We'd clean the house first, then try to get a run in before lunch. We were into it.
William and I got started on the bathrooms while Iain worked his way through the house with the vacuum. We were done by about half eleven, and we all headed out for a run. It was raining quite heavily but we got William in full waterproofs and I was all set for the weather too. 2.6km for me and the boys continued a bit longer. If I can add 500m onto each run every time I'm out, I could be doing 5kms by the end of lockdown.
We got in, dumped all of our wet clothes, had showers and had lunch. In the afternoon, Iain had lots of work things to be getting on with so William and I busied ourselves with a range of activities: we spoke to Jinty on FaceTime, did laundry, snuggled in bed with an afternoon story (the airport book - he still loves it), and played at the baddies/monsters game where we just hide under the bedcovers as best we can.
Once Iain was done, we had afternoon tea then William got to watch CBeebies. He was in his Zone Out Position. I called Lee for a catch up. Again, just good to connect with people. The weather was still rubbish as late afternoon became evening and, wait for it, we lit the fire! What the hell! Iain made dinner tonight. I suggested we do tacos with the fish that was in the fridge and he was all over it. They were great, and a really good alternative to our usual (tossed in breadcrumbs then fried).
Got William to bed at decent time and we both had some time to catch up with our own jobs. Me writing blogs and Iain doing uni readings. We rounded the night off, chilling out watching Race Across The World. I would love to do this show. But not with Iain. ;-)
Lorna.
