It feels like today has been really busy. Iain's spent most of the day in the office on Zoom calls to either staff or the Bigwigs of French rugby which has meant William and I have been busying ourselves upstairs.
After breakfast and my usual round of chores, William wanted to get working on the Cold War Steve collage again so it was a good hour of placing things and cutting more people out. I'm really trying to let him have the last say but I've found the most ridiculous photo of Mr Tumble that would be hilarious on it, and William's having none of it. Gutted.
Iain finally appeared from his morning calls at about midday and we headed straight out for a run. My walk yesterday had helped me plan a route for today's trot and we ended up doing 3.7km. A full 1km longer than Monday so I'm very pleased with my progress. That 5km is started to feel like it's within grasp.
We all had lunch, I played pop master and Iain and William caught up with their daily dose of Repair Shop videos. When we got into the afternoon I broke out the baking gear. It's Finn's first birthday today and Gia and Donnie wanted to have a virtual party for him so I thought I'd do some cupcakes and we could put a candle in one while we sang happy birthday. I was rather pleased how they turned out:
Iain spent most of the afternoon downstairs doing work and then had another conference call at 5pm. He missed Finn's party and then ended up having more phone calls with the coaches at about 6.30pm. Things really seem to have ramped up out of nowhere. There's been a lot of chat on my socials about school actually returning on the 11th May. The whole notion seems ludicrous. For so long we've just been under house arrest and now that we've come to accept it, the idea of Iain returning to work, and William returning to school makes me feel rather anxious. But, it's only the 22nd April. There's a long way to go yet so let's just see what the next few weeks bring. I'm away to eat more cakes. I've earned them!
Lorna.
