Following on from yesterday's productivity, today we were up at 9am and I was in the shower before 10.30! I got myself in cleaning mode, starting with the laundry and downstairs toilet, followed by the middle toilet and just for good measure, gave the bathroom a quick going over too. I also did the usual chores of tidying rooms, making beds and doing the laundry. Iain and William played Lego and Iain even came downstairs to show me his Pope Mobile that he'd built. ;-|
William and I then got onto our daily Cosmic Kids and Iain did his own workout in the garden then he vacuumed the house. Iain made lunch (poached eggs) and then we all got into our afternoon activities: William and me, painting then playing football in the courtyard; Iain, french homework and video lesson.
I don't know what your average four year old is like when it comes to painting but I've found William to be precise and meticulous with his brush work. Definitely takes after me when it comes to stuff like this. ;-)
Dinner was a simple, joint effort of steak, gnocchi and salad and William was in bed by 8pm. But not sleeping soon after. In fact he was still awake after nine and moaning that he couldn't get to sleep. I decided that bringing him downstairs would be disastrous as he'd happily sit on the couch and watch tv with us, and it would just wake him up more. So, I took a chance. I told him he needed to stay in bed, but that he could keep his light on and read all his favourite books for as long as he wanted. I didn't know how it would go, and I felt a bit guilty at just leaving him upstairs, but after about 20min, we heard the books crashing onto the floor and that was it. When we went up to bed at 10.30, his light was off and he was sound asleep. I didn't know how I felt about that. Our wee boy is growing up.
Lorna. :)
